Microsoft, of course, is taking this opportunity to come off as the cool mom. There’s probably some good reason why they’re block mod support, but we don’t know what it is. This has caused such a backlash from fans that I’m surprised Sony hasn’t reached out to comment on its decision. “After months of discussion with Sony,” Bethesda said in a statement (via The Verge), “we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.” It seems Sony simply won’t approve of the program as Bethesda has proposed it. After several weeks of back-and-forth reporting, wondering when user mods would finally arrive for Fallout 4, Bethesda has confirmed that… Well, they won’t. It seems PS4 players have been waiting in vain.
